I ordered the Televue Ethos 13mm eyepiece to replace my current 13mm Nagler T6. You may think what a waste of money, only 18 degree difference, do you actually need that? I first thought the same, but I ordered one anyway. And there it came, in a larger and heavier than I expected box, I ad read the specs but this was a large eyepiece. I couldn't wait to test it. I first turned to Saturn, through my C8 I was getting 156x, saturn appeared very crisp, I could see 4 moons very distinctively, Looking close, I could also see one of the moon's shadows on Saturn! The sky was darker than in 13mm Nagler T6. I then pointed the Ethos to M13, a favorite DSO, what I saw was like nothing I had expected, very dark sky with the center field filled with distinct sharp stars, no image distorion, no color. The image was simply superbe, I stared for long minutes enjoying this awesome view. The next night, I pointed my scope towards the moon, I used my NP101 + Ethos + 2x Barlow I could see small craters in my more clarity, no color. The image also seem to have more 3D effect that in other eyepiece. Would I recommend the Televue Ethos? Yes, this is an eyepiece that I will keep for years, just as I did with 31mm T5.

Pros: Excellent views, very wide field.

Cons: Heavy, expensive

Rating: 9/10
