How do I keep my telescope from dewing up?

Dew is the result of the difference in temperature between the telescope and air, combined with air moisture. This creates tiny water droplets that form a film over your telescope's lens, mirror and assembly tube. To prevent dew you must use a dew shield, usually available at most astronomy shops, this type of shield simply slides around the telescope tube and extends past the front section by as much as 10" or 12" depending on the size of the telescope.

Another type of dew prevention is a dew heater, this device uses electricity or a battery to produce heat that prevents dew from forming, it can also dry dew that has already formed. The dew heater is placed around the front section of the telescope tube.
