Why is there no color on deep space and planets?

Although space objects are very colorful, chances are you will not be seeing much color unless looking at Jupiter or maybe Mars through a large aperture telescope (>10"). Galaxies, nebulae and other space objects are simply too far for seeing any color. Astrophotography will reveal color is many space objects, however visual observing mostly won't.
