Why is the image in my eyepiece shifting?

The image isn't really shifting, it is the earth's rotation that causes this effect. As you look through your eyepiece at an object, the earth's rotation slowly 'moves' focus out of the object's field of view. To solve this problem, install tracking on your mount. Tracking is available for refractors, Newtonians, Dobsonians and most other telescopes.
