How can I setup my telescope for tracking objects?

How can I setup my telescope for tracking objects?

Your telescope mount must have the option to track space objects, once this is established do the following:

  1. Make sure that tracking is turned off.

  2. Point your telescope mount toward true north (a star called Polaris), all space objects seem to be orbiting around Polaris.

  3. Turn on tracking.

  4. Point your telescope towards any object.

The image shouldn't appear to be shifting, if it still is, make small adjustments to your tripod to point more accurately towards Polaris.
